When tourists visit one of the places of interest, they never forget to buy some
souvenirs before continuing the journey. A souvenir is an object kept in memory
of a person, place, or event.
The souvenirs may be for themselves, may be for
their relatives, and may be for their close friends.
On the way a guide, who shows the way and explains the sights, usually accompanies
them.
They also bring with them books of information.
Foreign tourists usually buy batik shirts and things made of silver and leather
in Yogyakarta and puppets (wayang) in Solo and Bandung. Local crafts are of high
quality, especially textile design (called batik), woodcarving, an silversmith.
The tourists also buy clothes from Samarinda and Ujung Pandang. They also watch
the local people in Bali carve the wood. All these things fascinate them.
